The Trachoma Atlas aims to consolidate published and unpublished data at the district level and provide up-to-date country maps of trachoma distribution on an open-access platform.
Maps are expected to be used as:
- An information resource for all partners to show the current distribution of trachoma and highlight where additional surveys are needed
- An advocacy tool to prompt political will and further support for implementation efforts
- A source of data for use in operational research, with the aim of improving our knowledge of the spatial heterogeneity of trachoma and refining control strategies
